I'm a bachelor living in an apartment with an oven that does not have visible temperature settings. I'm also looking at deep frying and making yogurt/cheese at home. Is there a single, cheap, reliable thermometer that will function for all three of these purposes?

Are you trying to leave the thermometer in the oven the whole time you're baking? –  Jefromi Jan 12 '12 at 23:45
Also, are you trying to buy a deep-fryer (which would probably have its own thermometer) or deep-fry in something else? –  Jefromi Jan 13 '12 at 5:44
Hi Ben, welcome to Seasoned Advice! We don't accept product recommendation requests here; however, you could ask what the important differences are between these different types of thermometers, which would help you evaluate this on your own and provide more useful and less time/opinion-sensitive information to the rest of the community. Please feel free to ask another question if you'd be interested in the answers to that. –  Aaronut Jan 13 '12 at 15:56
