I am thinking of buying an electric commercial oven for home use. What problems might I run into if I try to install one in my house? Are there safety concerns, practical issues, or anything else I should be aware of?

How do I evaluate the various brands and models?

The answer to this is going to depend on your local building codes, although there are often ways of making it work in many jurisdictions. I think this question is off-topic for the same reasons @JasonTrue said. But you should also think that, many commercial ovens use 3 phase current, and operate at a higher voltage, which quite probably s house doesn't have. – J.A.I.L. Dec 11 '12 at 8:10

@SAJ14SAJ See the faq, which explicitly state that questions about kitchen equipment are on topic. I don't think you'll find much community support for changing that. It's possible that some parts of the question (details of installation) should be asked on DIY, but safety concerns, how to select an oven, what to be aware of cooking-wise? @Jefromi I don't disagree with the FAQ--if this was a question about selecting an oven as cooking gear for its culinary qualities, it would be on topic--but it is about using a commercial oven--not as a piece of cooking gear, but as something installed in the home. Still off topic in my opinion. The expertise required to answer it is not chef or culinary knowledge, it is construction and code knowledge. – SAJ14SAJ Dec 12 '12 at 8:59
