My KitchenAid Professional Series 600 stand mixer broke down last night while mixing 5 cups of flour and some eggs to make dough for pasta (using the KitchenAid roller/cutter attachments). The dough hook was running on the lowest speed (1). It just ground to a stop and made horrible sounds.

This is my 4th KitchenAid mixer in about 9 years. The quality is terrible.

I am looking for another brand to try that has the roller and cutter attachments like the KitchenAid but doesn't need to be replaced every 2 years. I can't afford to spend thousands of dollars so it would need to be in the same ballpark as the kitchenaid in price.

Thanks for any advice!

That's terrible. I've had mine for 6 years and it's still going strong. How often do you use it and what kind of wear and tear do you expect to put into a future machine? – Brendan Feb 11 at 18:10
Look for restaurant surplus stores in your area. Restaurants close down all the time and these places buy all their equipment. Catering-grade equipment is generally much more reliable as it is designed for heavy use. – ElendilTheTall Feb 11 at 18:52
I've heard that about new KitchenAids and it makes me sad. My kitchenAid is somewhere around 15 years old and still going strong. – Sobachatina Feb 11 at 19:27
I use it 2-3 times per week. We use it to make pasta and pizza dough. – Gern Blandston Feb 11 at 19:34
Sorry to hear about your trouble. But brand recommendations are off-topic everywhere on the network. – rumtscho Feb 11 at 19:39

Get a Kenwood Chef, it's made of much stronger and thicker metal. They don't look pretty but they last

KitchenAid is just a "fashionable" item with their pretty colours and curves
