I am preparing a spinach bacon quiche for a small dinner party this weekend and I need to know what pairs well with the quiche? I am already preparing a lite arugala salad with a simple lemon vinaigrette dressing. I don't know if I should prepare a butternut squash soup or maybe a simple purple mashed or baked potato? Any help would be appreciated.

Are you serving the quiche hot or cold? –  Satanicpuppy Oct 28 '10 at 23:29

Hot or at least mostly hot as there will be kids partaking of the quiche. –  Varuuknahl Oct 28 '10 at 23:45

Myself, I like to keep the pairing of the quiche quite light. I like to have a "pick and eat" salad, just simple green salad, tomatoes, grapes, etc. on the side, some good cheese is also nice with a quiche. Then I put everything up, without mixing it at all. Then people can eat what they feel like. A small "make your own garnish" kind of thing.

I love fresh, sweet, juicy fruits with quiches. A nice sour vinaigrette and some fatty cheese is also a must for me.

How about new potatoes - just boil them until cooked, place in a serving dish and top with butter and parsley?

You want to stick with fairly light things, so the quiche doesn't get overwhelmed. Salad is great. For an additional side, try something like sauteed green beans, glazed carrots, roasted beats sliced and tossed with a bit of butter, or a warm mustardy potato salad.

Two of my favored pairings with quiches are fresh fruit and a hearty bread. The fruit I usually just cut up into bite size pieces and served on a plater so guests can pick what they want; it gives a nice sweet contrast to a savory quiche. For the bread, I like something with some crunch to it, so tend to lightly butter and toast a split hearty loaf of sunflower oat or something.

*Figuratively... not literally, we use a low trans fat spread. :)

I agree on the bread--I think that is all you need, but the fruit is a good idea. –  SAJ14SAJ Nov 23 '12 at 0:28

Pair the quiche with something light such as salad and/or fresh fruits and veggies.
