A relativ noob in web programming and web design. Quite proficient in Photoshop, enough to actually give advice. Can do very basic things in PHP and Cakephp, fairly decent web design skills. Knows terribly basic Javascript. Can follow directions for installing JQuery features. Understands the box model and is therefore salivating over the adoption of flexbox by all browsers. Hates IE. Loves sudoku.

How to trim a cake so it's level? I've found that this technique works best when it is PIPING HOT out of the oven. |

How to trim a cake so it's level? @Beta, yes. Totally serious. If right out of the oven, you can possibly get it even by just flipping it upside down. And if it has cooled somewhat and you have been trying to even out the top and it's not quite working, a combination of flipping it over to the even side (the bottom) and judicious icing can make many cakes look pretty good. |

Bar ware - What kind of glass is this? @jefromi, actually, the OP's pictured glass, with the boston shaker in the background gives it a size that seems in line with a champagne coupe. You are correct that a margarita glass is much bigger...if you look at the boston shaker in the OP's pic, the glass in question is shorter than the shaker...probably wouldn't be the case with a margarita glass. You could be right but I am at this point assuming it's a champagne coupe. |

Bar ware - What kind of glass is this? Margarita was the first that came to my mind too, however the champagne coupe looks identical, it seems... |

Does placing a metal spoon in an open bottle of sparkling wine (etc.. .) help keep its fizz? I was actually thinking more along the lines of a can....I prefer those, but not having any way to 'close' them, I have purchased the plastic bottles. If this would work to seal a can, I'd love to buy them instead! There is a newer kind of cling film that is a little thicker that sticks really well to just about everything...I might try that. |

Why must potato salad be placed in the refrigerator before serving? I agree. And who wants warm potato salad anyways? ;) |

Why must potato salad be placed in the refrigerator before serving? While I mainly agree with your statements, I have to say that "Potato salad usually contains mayonnaise, which is a natural growth medium for bacteria" is a 'depends' situation. Commercially prepared mayonnaise tends to be full of acids and pasteurized eggs, and can be a bacterial growth inhibitor (the spoilage is more likely to come from the other ingredients in the salad). Homemade mayonnaise, which is made with raw eggs, is definitely a receptive environment for bacteria. |

Ready to eat food not suitable for microwave This is why some microwave pastries come with some kind of reflective foil type wrapping (hot pockets, lean cuisine sandwiches) that can be used to put some of the crisp back into the item (tho it will be chewy and tough). |
