Thanks very much, guys. I wish I could remember exactly how much water I used. You might be right, though. In addition to being thin, it also was off-color (a sort of grayish-green) and had a barely-perceptible, albeit unpleasant flavor and smell. Although there were no 'chunks' of scum (I was fairly diligent about skimming), I couldn't help but associate the grayish color to the scum I had been skimming. Quite gross! I am satisfied that you have given me all the advice I need, and if I still fail, then as a last resort I'll have to invite my mother-in-law over to show me in person. =D
