comment Does “American” Food exist around the world?
If this is the "eggplant parmesan" that you are listing as American homemade food, sorry to burst your bubble but it is Italian. :)

comment Is it true that all salt is sea salt?
Technically, all the sodium and the chlorine on our planet were produced inside an exploding star. So all salt is star salt, too.

comment Is powdered sugar a dietary alternative to granulated sugar?
Well, strictly speaking... Powdered has a lower specific weight than granulated sugar, at least according to this site, so one cup of powdered sugar contains slightly fewer calories than granulated sugar. On the other hand, you get the same effect if you just don't fill your cup to the brim. Less sugar has fewer calories than more sugar.

comment Is it safe to boil water in a microwave?
If I had to bet, I would say that there are less bacteria in coffee made using a microwave oven. Probably you are heating it directly in a cup or a mug, an object which is usually washed more often and more thoroughly than a kettle.

@Catija My gas oven, bought in 2012 in the primitive land of Italy, has no thermostat.

comment Ribs burned to a crisp following directions. What does “medium high” mean?
I love the fact that you took the time to take a picture while the ribs were on fire on your grill.

comment Office (Loose Leaf) Tea Solution
Interesting thought about carrying the hot mug back from the microwave. I found that there are also travel mugs with infusers, like amazon.com/Aladdin-Tea-12-Ounce-Infuser-Blue/dp/B001Q3L9PA and retailshop.libretea.com - they would solve this problem at least, wouldn't they?

comment Office (Loose Leaf) Tea Solution
@PeterTaylor After I get the infuser/strainer/whatever, I'd like to buy leaves of several kinds of tea, black and green mainly. Probably only "common" types though, I wasn't considering Oolong.
