comment How long is sugar (mixed with minor ingredients) good for?
Sweet. Figured since sugar was used to preserve jams it would be safe, but wanted to the confirmation. Thank you. :)

comment How does “Brownulated” light brown sugar compare with regular light brown sugar?
Just add a Brown Sugar Saver and soak it for 5 minutes whenever the sugar starts getting hard. I bought one from the Christmas craft sale for a couple dollars and, bonus, it is shaped like a worm.

comment Differences between heavy and light whipping cream?
I made a recipe for alfredo sauce that called for whipping cream. It was much TOO sweet. Making the same recipe with half-and-half cream (less fat content than whipping cream) and more salt makes a wonderful sauce.

Not sure in the rice cooker but I just mixed 1 cup of Jasmine with 1 cup of wild rice in a pot and it tasted great. :)

comment What are alternate uses for leftover buttermilk?
I used to do buy buttermilk for specific recipes and then have leftovers but now if the recipe calls for a small amount (1-3 cups) I just use a buttermilk substitute by mixing milk with vinegar and letting it sit for ten minutes.

comment What's the best way to tell that pasta is done (when boiling)?
I just taste it. Eat a noodle (or piece of noodle) and see if you like the taste/texture.

comment How do you steam vegetables?
If you steam it you could also add flavors to it... for example (howtodothings.com/video/how-to-cook-with-tea) adds flavor by adding tea to the water.

comment Kitchen safe touchscreen recipe reader
I was considering this and instead of a touchscreen you could always use a keyboard with a keyboard protector. That way with grime you can clean/replace the protector.

comment Would these ingredients work for a Gift In a Jar?
Sorry don't have the recipe online. Basically you mix all the ingredients together and pour into the pan. Simpliest ever!

comment How to fix a sauce that is too sweet?
I made it again and it tasted WAY better. I used half and half (10%) instead of whip cream and added more salt.

I always washed the prewashed lettuce just in case. You aren't sure what chemicals may be on the lettuce. Also mom bought the organic bagged lettuce once and she had a beetle on her plate!! Always check :D
