There is and it depends on how hot your oven is. The auto ignition temperature of paper is 424–475 °F. If you are baking at temps below that range, it should be fine. I've never noticed any off-flavors.

Katie, this is pretty close to the method I usually use. It's good, but what i always seem to end up with after all that boiling is caramel. There is nothing wrong with that, but I want to try something differnent
