How to make apple pie stay intact Though I would say I have seen a few recipes that use a mix of cooking and eating apples. |

How to make apple pie stay intact My apple pie recipe comes from Bubby's in NYC: they seem to do pretty well using flour... |

How to make apple pie stay intact I disagree. Cooking apples usually result in an apple mush. A nice eating apple like a Braeburn softens nicely but still holds its shape and thus provides some texture. |

How to enhance sweetness of a baked chocolate brownie? It should be ok providing you don't make it too liquid. You need to strike a balance between soakability and not being so wet it breaks the brownie up. That's why it's a good idea to test it on one brownie first. |

How can I tell when my fat is sufficiently creamed? Well, if you're consistently getting flat cookies, simply try creaming for longer. You can't 'overwork' it, that's only a problem once you add flour. |

Can water in which pasta was cooked be used to make gravy? Put 3 ladlefuls of pasta water into a sauce and see how thick it gets without boiling it down! There's not that much starch in it, it's not like a cornstarch slurry. |

How do you safely bring ingredients normally stored cold to room temperature? Thanks. I wonder how the rest of the world manages, what with our warm eggs! :) |

Can overcooked caramel be harmful? For the record, never, ever leave caramel unattended. It boils at high temperatures and if someone were to 'just dip their finger in it' or a kid were to come along and knock it off, they'd be very badly burnt. |
