Sausage roll pastry - how do I achieve a smooth shiny effect? I wonder what those are? Sea creatures of some kind? They seem suitably alarmed at their impending death-by-being-eaten. |

Is there a point in stuffing a chicken if I'm not planning on eating the stuffing part? Ditto garlic. CostCo sells big jars of peeled garlic cloves; just pour a bunch of 'em inside the chicken cavity. Once they've cooked, they're good on bread. |

What is a good vegetarian source of umami flavour? Ditto. Note that miso can be quite salty. |

What is the best approach to cut carrot into thin strips? I've never used it for carrots, but amazon.com/gp/product/B000KKNQZ6 is good for slicing stuff thinly in general. The safety note above still applies :) |

How can I remove the peel and pit of an avocado without the whole thing turning into mush? I've poked myself accidentally when using the "pointy part" method. Believe me, the "edge" method works as well, and is less likely to poke! |

How can I remove the peel and pit of an avocado without the whole thing turning into mush? The "striking with the knife" method works for me. |

What is braising? Sounds to me like it's nothing more than the quantity of liquid -- adding liquid would turn a braise into a stew, I guess. |

How do you make Ketchup Doritos? This question is so wistful, it breaks my heart. |
