I've recently completed my MSc Computer Science from a UK institution, and have moved back to the US to begin work. I write in my spare time, enjoy cooking, and apparently am addicted to signing up for SE sites :).

comment Ceramic vs Stainless Steel in coffee mugs
My old ceramic one was double-walled. Does this mean if I could find that type of mug again it'd be the same as the stainless steel one?

I didn't think you usually drank an entire mug of espresso. Generic brewed is more like 200mg in a 240ml mug according to mayoclinic.com/health/caffeine/AN01211 and many of the teas I drink boast having "as much caffeine as coffee" (teavana.com/the-teas/mate-teas). Anyway this is all entirely off topic, but thanks for explaining what you meant

Ah, I can't drink coffee at all so I don't know much about it.

Is there a significant difference between metal and ceramic though? And how do you figure it's easier to fill a mug with tea than coffee?

comment Why are my dumplings made of evil?
There might have been unrinsed soup -- I did mix the cornstarch, broth, and milk in the bowl, then rinsed it, then made the dumplings in it.

@ChrisSteinbach bettycrocker.com/products/bisquick/Story the "heart smart" version. Enriched flour, canola oil, leavening, dextrose, sugar, tricalcium phosphate, salt, DATEM, cornstarch

"glutinous, short-grained" is not to be confused with the rice used to make Mochi (もち米 or "Mochigome"), which is called "glutinous" rice in English and has extremely short grains. I have occasionally seen Japonica labelled "medium grain". The important point is to ensure it says, somewhere on the package, "Japonica", "Japanese", or "Sushi".

comment Why does my kamado ceramic grill fall out of it's stand when I open it?
Oh good, that was going to be my next guess: "floor model" and "pre-assembled" often equate to "damaged"
