I've recently completed my MSc Computer Science from a UK institution, and have moved back to the US to begin work. I write in my spare time, enjoy cooking, and apparently am addicted to signing up for SE sites :).

comment Why does my rice smell?
@SustenanceCouture Did you heat the water? I had water once where my shower smelled like eggs but the cold tap didn't. I'm not sure if it was the water heater or just that it smelled more when it was warm.

comment Can I freeze Tzatziki sauce?
We usually have minced cucumbers still in chunks in the sauce. I can look for a recipe that calls for pureeing though

comment Recommendations: Food with Minimal Stovetop Time, No Oven Available
There are "instant" rice products on the market that cook in comparable times to pasta. I've seen 10-15 minute varieties, 5 minute varieties, and 3 minute (via microwave) varieties.

comment Vegetable stock for a vegan gravy
I've heard rumors of vegan dashi using mushrooms to replace the fish elements that might be a good base as well: it'd be a combo of your suggestions to use mushroom stock and your suggestion to use seaweed.

comment How to remove dirt from inside green/spring onions?
I would shop at a different market, one that sells produce that's less filthy to begin with. How on earth does that much dirt get inside the stalks of the plant in the first place? A little, sure, but...
