Soda caps seal on a soft membrane under the cap--the threads have nothing to do with it. As long as the cap threads down securely, the seal is made between the top of the bottle and the inside of the cap, regardless of whether the threads are broken or not.
Mar 1	comment	What is the optimal temperature for making coffee, specifically in an AeroPress? If you like the flavor of the milk steamed a little hotter, go for it. It's personal preference. If you don't, I'm not sure what else you could do, except possibly heat the coffee separately to a higher temp.

Feb 4	comment	Baking naan without an oven? @Sobachatina, I cranked the griddle up as high as it would go, and I was very pleased with the result. It's obviously not the same as proper naan cooked in a tandoor, but they were soft, chewy and delicious.

Jan 29	comment	Navigating the different types of cookware - new kitchen advice That's a heck of an answer. I would add two things: a mention of forged iron pans (like this DeBuyer Mineral Element B). I have two now, and they have become my go-to pans for pretty much everything. Eggs don't stick, meat sears beautifully. And second, I love my little butter melter :) I don't have a microwave, so it comes in handy for melting butter (who knew?!), and heating up small amounts of sauces, leftovers, whatnot.
Jan 28	comment	What features should I look for when buying an espresso maker? The differences can be many, especially once you get away from department store machines (Breville, etc.). They generally use inexpensive pumps and heating systems, and a pressurized portafilter to simulate crema. I don't have time for a full answer at the moment, but check out CoffeeGeek's forums for more information than you can shake a coffee bean at.

The problem here is that SBF (and any film finish--polyurethane, etc) only sits on the surface. It will be worn away and cut through by use as a cutting board, which will expose the treated wood underneath.
