What is the most efficient way to remove kernels from a corn cob? The up-side of this is that it holds the end of the ear firmly and catches all the corn and juice. The down-side is that it can be a bit awkward. |

Why is there so much baking soda in scones? Can you post / link to an example? I wasn't aware that Australian scone-eaters were excessively fond of soda, and the first few search results don't turn up anything unusual. And remember Sturgeon's Law: you may just be encountering the 90% of Australian bakers who don't actually know what they're doing... |

Fix a bad vegetable soup How long have you been cooking this? Is it a pot of mush, or is there still some texture to the veggies? |

How to store fresh coriander for future use, outside refrigerator, so that they don't lose their taste? Anisha: I believe the answers to the existing question cover the various methods fairly effectively. I've summarized them in another answer to make it easier to pick the technique that meets your needs. |

Are bay leaves dangerous to (unwittingly) eat? Brings to mind the old "swallowing toothbrush bristles causes appendicitis" urban legend. But if you're wolfing down your food fast enough to swallow a whole bay leaf, I imagine they could present a choking hazard... |
