On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Today I received my "Yearling" badge here on Seasoned Advice and here I am nominating myself for a position as a moderator.

I will admit that my rep here is pretty low overall but I'm a big fan of this site and I love helping to improve it when I can. I've been involved in a good number of discussions about site policy on our Meta site and, in general, I'm quite familiar with and active on the bigger SE.Meta.

I'm a 10K+ user on two different sites and I'm here on a regular basis on all three branches of the site, Main, Meta and Chat.

Generally, I feel that this site is in pretty good shape. The people here are congenial and there seems to be little that causes issues, so I don't know that there's much need for bashing people over the head with hammers. But I will be happy to dupe hammer every "I left _____ out on the counter for ____ hours. Is it still safe to eat?" question I see.

I believe in working to improve "bad" questions by asking leading questions in comments that encourage questioners to expand on what they're asking and to explain what they mean to help them get better answers.

I'm excited to have the opportunity to join our current mods and learn from them.

I love to cook and I love to eat.

I work as a web designer and have lived–and eat–in Italy, Canada, Mexico and Spain. I'm currently living in Europe so I could moderate before anyone wakes up in America.

I have a blog where I write my favourite recipes and explain them with step by step pictures.

My name is Jolene, you probably know me as Jolenealaska. Since the day I arrived on Seasoned Advice I have been one of the most active and vocal users here, and I would like now to serve as moderator.

I believe I have a well earned reputation for being patient and diplomatic, but I am also quick to flag posts if I see a problem. I am active on Meta and more active in Chat than I care to admit. If I am unsure about anything, I’m quick to ask for guidance in one or both of those places. As a moderator, I will continue to ask in both of those places for guidance from the other moderators and from the community. I am here a lot. Since I joined 864 days ago (as of this writing), I have been here 845 days. Considering that I moved during that time and was without internet for a while, that’s a pretty solid attendance record. I will be a lightning fast spam hammer!

I believe in using the lightest effective touch to keep the discussion on-topic. I will try to encourage new users especially, not scare them away.

I promise to be consistently available, and I will endeavor to always be fair.
