Everything seemed "fine". No lumps in the batter. And of course I licked the spoon afterwards and nothing tasted off.

I live in the USA. I followed e recipe, but did not have cake flour. I used AP flour. I truly believe the baking powder had some type of chemical reaction....but to what? I sprayed my cake pans with Pam, and then used parchment paper circles.....this is not the first time I had this happen. Maybe I hsould hang up baking ☹️
