Mar 31, 2011 at 13:19 comment added Pirripli Scoring sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure I think cutting the root end off is -- I like it there to anchor the loose pieces of the onion while I chop them. I cut the onion radially (like a clock) first, then slice straight downwards. Without the root, it's hard to keep all that together.
